  • 15 dried chipotle peppers
  • 3 ancho peppers, dried
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. 1Remove stems from dried peppers. Toast in dry pan until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Soak in hot water for 30 minutes until soft. Blend rehydrated peppers with 1 cup soaking water and all other ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes. Blend again until very smooth. Strain for ultra-smooth texture. Bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 months.
